About This Course
Pre2Kinder is a kindergarten readiness mini-course created to help adults confidently support children ages 3–5 as they prepare for kindergarten.
If you are feeling unsure whether a child has the skills needed for kindergarten, overwhelmed by conflicting advice, or uncertain about what truly matters at this stage, this course provides a clear and supportive path forward.
Pre2Kinder is built as a learning ladder. Each module focuses on one essential area of development and builds intentionally on the skills that come before it. Instead of rushing children or focusing on memorization, the course emphasizes steady growth, hands-on learning, and developmentally appropriate expectations.
This course is designed to work in homes, preschool classrooms, daycare settings, and homeschool environments using simple, realistic strategies that fit into everyday routines.
What This Course Covers
This course walks you through eight foundational learning areas that support kindergarten readiness:
Module 1: Handwriting Foundations
This module focuses on strengthening fine motor skills, hand control, and coordination needed before formal handwriting begins. You’ll learn how to support tracing, cutting, controlled movements, and pencil readiness in ways that build confidence rather than frustration.
Module 2: Alphabet Awareness
Children begin learning letters long before formal reading instruction. This module explores letter recognition, early sound awareness, and meaningful exposure to print through hands-on, play-based activities that help children connect letters to real words and objects.
Module 3: Number Sense
This module builds early math understanding beyond counting. You’ll explore number recognition, one-to-one correspondence, and quantity concepts using concrete, child-friendly activities that make math feel approachable and engaging.
Module 4: Color Recognition
Color recognition supports language development, sorting, and visual discrimination. This module shows how to reinforce color knowledge naturally through play, art, and everyday interactions without over-teaching or drills.
Module 5: Shape Exploration
Children learn shapes by seeing, touching, and building with them. This module focuses on recognizing common shapes, identifying them in the environment, and understanding basic shape properties through hands-on exploration and conversation.
Module 6: Early Math Thinking
Early math is about reasoning, patterns, and problem-solving. This module introduces sorting, comparing, measuring, and pattern recognition to support logical thinking and prepare children for future math learning.
Module 7: Word Formation & Language Development
Strong literacy starts with spoken language. This module supports vocabulary growth, sentence formation, listening skills, and early word-building through storytelling, conversation, and play-based learning experiences.
Module 8: Phonics & Early Reading Skills
This final module brings skills together by introducing sound awareness, blending, and early decoding in a gentle, age-appropriate way that supports reading readiness without pressure or expectations of fluency.
